About Me

I'm a second-generation Latvian-American, born and raised in the great state of Minnesota. I read, edit, translate, typeset, and photograph.

In addition to serving as editorial director of Open Letter Books, I am working on several translation projects, including Forest Daughters, ed. Sanita Reinsone, for which I received a 2020 NEA Literature Translation Fellowship. My most recent translation, The River by Laura Vinogradova, was published by Open Letter Books in 2025.
